Tokai Bio’s bacteria also contribute to the reduction of foul smell often found in various businesses and warehouses.

To this date, we have improved the condition of the disposal site for tofu refuse (‘okara,’ soybean residue created upon making tofu) in Mino city, and also successfully reduced the foul smell of a pig farm in Nakatsugawa city.

We have reduced the pungent odor of 3 compost factories in Mie and Gifu prefectures within the last year. We can safely conclude that our “biological” approach to the solution of industrial foul odor reduction has been very successful. The followings summarize 3 foul odor control examples.

  1. Foul odor control of a pig farm in Nakatsugawa city

Complaints regarding a pig farm’s foul odor by its neighbors were sent to Nakatsugawa municipal office. The city provided some guidance to the pig farm, but with no specific reform measures for the situation. We were commissioned by the city’s Environmental Division of the Department of Social Affairs and Environment to improve the foul odor issue. We gave a technical presentation to local residents with city officials in attendance.

We sprayed our Bio bacteria periodically, and also provided reformation guidance for the local environment for 3 weeks. Instant effects were visible from day 1, and the odor situation is continuously making improvements to this day. Nakatsugagwa city officials also confirm the reformed conditions. Currently, our company also appropriately treat pig manure compost at our facility.

  1. Improving foul odor at a fish processing factory

Food plant (seafood processing) in Ena city has received numerous complaints from its neighboring residents. When we first started the odor improvement project, we immediately noticed the foul smell throughout the factory site. We applied our highly concentrated bio-solution to all the ins-and-outs of the factory, which had an immediate effect on the odor situation.

The day after our bio-solution was applied to the site, the foul odor that have stained throughout the factory gradually toned down. We further specified the cause of the odor, and worked to control and improve the odor issues at specific areas.

We also set up a deodorization device using bacterial liquid cleansing system to the factory exhausts (scheduled) and to the interior of aeration exhaust tank devices (installed). This installation is capable of strong deodorization, and it successfully minimized the foul odor that was dispersed daily at the factory and its adjacent sites.

  1. Foul odor control project at a fertilizer factory

A fertilizer manufacturer with 2 facilities in Gifu and Mie prefectures received frequent complaints regarding foul odor issues at both facilities from local neighboring residents. The factory tried to find resolution by reducing the amount of ingredients used for the fertilizer, and also attempted to improve the odor environment by maintaining the level of the foul smell below the standard measurement based on the Offensive Odor Control Law. Despite their efforts, complaints were continuously addressed to the city’s Environmental Division, and the manufacturer could not find a resolution.

At the very beginning of our involvement, both facilities had a really bad stench (organic acid smell, ammonia, etc.) infiltrating throughout the sites and their surrounding environments. So our highly concentrated bio solution known for its immediate effect was applied to the factories. The acidic-like odor, which had seeped into the entire facilities, was gradually controlled by the following day of spraying the solution.

In addition, we advised the client to use wood chips seeped with our bio solution (made from felling trees at deserted agricultural land) for fertilization. Prior to our involvement, the sites had foul smell that even seemed to stench our clothing, just by entering the areas. Within 3 weeks of practicing our odor environmental control, the foul odor adhered to clothing disappeared.

This project involved the city office and local residents for briefing sessions which occurred a month, 3 months, and 6 months from the project initialization. We updated the attendees with the progress, and continued with the odor control for further improvement.
